Oh, April

Another month has come and gone. I somehow feel like I haven't accomplished much. I know it's not true though. I managed to thoroughly teach myself how to knit, and I have also been furthering my musical abilities. Still, these things seem trivial some days. Hopefully April will be better. I am planning on writing a screenplay, which will hopefully go better than my novel-writing attempt last November. If anyone wants to join me, there is still another day left before April is upon us, so go to the Script Frenzy website and make an account. It should be lots of fun. My screenplay is probably going to be one of those cheesy horror type movies, so I know I'll be having fun writing it.
On another note, I have been on the lookout lately for some cool new things to share with everyone, and I have finally found something. It is from Vimeo, which is one of my favorite websites anyway. The artist's name is Georg Reil. Here it is, the Fine Collection of Curious Sound Objects.

Dressing in History

I often wish that I had lived in a different time period, one where I would have been able to wear pretty, flowy dresses everyday, and people would have admired them, instead of thinking I was strange for wearing them. If I could pick any historical fashion period, I would probably choose the Regency, especially the early part in the 1790's. I love clothes from the other eras as well, but I don't think I would have been too fond of wearing corsets on a daily basis.
I love looking around at online shops that make reproductions of the clothing people used to wear. It fascinates me. I think it's because, somewhere inside of me, there's a little girl who still likes playing dress-up, and she likes to come out every once in a while. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) I don't have any money to buy the any of the gems that I find, so I must be content with admiring them from afar. Here are a few of my favorites.

This one is actually from 1954, so it's not as old as some of the others, but it's still exquisite.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at them as much as I have. I will post more as I find them.

Long Time, No Type

I think I really may have died since the last time I wrote anything here (figuratively of course). I have successfully once again managed to isolate myself from any budding friendships that once were, without even trying. Maybe it goes back to that old saying: "Out of sight, out of mind." Through little fault of my own, I definitely have the "out of sight" part covered. Basically my daily routine is this: wake up (at any time of the day, it doesn't really matter at this point), wander around the house for a few minutes making sure there are no notes for me telling me to do something that may or may not have a deadline, go back to my bedroom, try to amuse myself somehow, eat at some point, keep amusing myself. Needless to say, it gets very monotonous. I have been perfecting this particular routine since sometime in 2007, so by now I can consider myself a professional hermit. It doesn't help much that I am having to really on other members of my family to help me get an actual life, but I can't blame them for anything. They are all wonderful people, and they are doing the best they can. It's just that somedays I feel like such a burden on them, even though they constantly assure me that I am not one. I can only hope that it will get better and that something will happen soon.

I realize, reading the previous paragraph that I was definitely rambling, even if said rambling was somewhat meaningful. Anyways, on with the art!
I have just discovered a new (to me) artist whose work is some pretty cool stuff. His name is Michael Johansson, and here is a look at my favorite piece (so far), entitled Packa Pappas Kappsack, which is Swedish for Pack Daddy's Suitcase.

Video Art

Hi, everyone! I know it's been awhile since I've written about anything (again), but I have now found something worthy of even the shortest attention spans (mine included). It is a lovely CGI video I discovered on Vimeo, which is where I like to find all kinds of good artistic things to inspire me. This one has definitely done it. The only word I can use to describe it is stunning. Watch it and you'll see what I mean. Have a lovely day!

I Heart Charlie Brown

Those of you who know me probably know by now about my adoration for all things related to Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang, so you can imagine that I was very pleased and excited when I learned that one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Ingrid Michaelson, has a song which is related to the episode, "You're In Love, Charlie Brown." I was already in love with the song, but this made it even more special to me. Here it is.

Hi everyone.

Yes, I'm still alive. :) I realize I haven't written anything in awhile, but I didn't really feel like I had anything worthwhile to say. I'm back now, though.
I had a good holiday season, by my terms anyways. I didn't have any major disagreements with either of my parents, and I got some very nice gifts from both of them. In case you're wondering :P, my mom bought me an ipod nano, which was just in time, because my other mp3 player, which was old only in the technological sense, was about to stop working completely. My new ipod is bright pink, which is just perfect for me. My dad bought me a Dell laptop, which I am very grateful for as I am now able to have internet access without sitting directly beside two different noisy gaming systems. Maybe the peaceful silence will motivate me to start writing more.
Because it's new years, I've decided to give all of you out there in cyberland another treat for the ears. :) This is my favorite new year's song. Enjoy.
